Open-cell foam insulation in Lake Havasu City AZ - an attic sealed around your ducts
Hot rooms upstairs and a big power bill? We spray foam under your roof deck so the attic ducts end up inside the house.

Is open-cell spray foam right for my attic?
Open-cell foam insulation in Lake Havasu City, AZ is a soft spray foam our crew applies to the underside of your roof deck. It stops air leaks and slows heat in one layer, so the attic becomes part of the insulated house.
Most calls start with a hot room upstairs or the room over the garage, and the first things I want to know are where your ducts run and what's already up there. The price mostly moves with how much roof area we spray, how thick the foam needs to be and how much prep the attic needs first. The schedule turns on that same prep and on whether another trade has to fix something before we start. If the old insulation is soaked or full of droppings, insulation removal comes first, because new material over a mess just keeps the problem. Your written estimate spells out the prep, any repairs that come first and what goes in after. We're based in Lake Havasu City and also work in the cities around it.
Why homeowners call us for open-cell foam
I learned this trade under a boss who checked every attic I worked in. I still run jobs that way, so the sealing and prep get done before any foam goes on.
The owner at your estimate
I do the estimates myself and work beside our installers, so the person who saw your attic is on the job.
Problems fixed, not buried
If the roof leaks or another trade is needed first, I'll tell you rather than spray foam over the problem.
Fully licensed and insured
We're fully licensed and insured, so you aren't taking on the risk of an uninsured crew working in your attic.

How we put in open-cell foam
I look at three things first. Where your ducts run, what's already in the attic, and whether sealing the gaps another way would cost you less.
What happens when you call us about open-cell foam?
We plan the job around your house and your family. It starts with what's in the attic now and finishes once the foam is in and the space is clean.

How much does open-cell spray foam insulation cost in Lake Havasu City?
There's no single price. The cost comes down to the roof area we spray, how thick the foam needs to be and how much prep the attic needs first. Pulling out old, dirty insulation or fixing a leak adds to the job, while a clean, open attic keeps it down. I'll put your number in writing after I've seen the attic.
How long does it take before we can go back in the house after spray foam?
You go back in once the foam has finished curing and the house has been aired out and cleaned. Some foam makers recommend about 24 hours, but it varies by product. That advice comes from older federal guidance, which also says the family and any other trades should be out of the house while the foam goes on. We'll give you your product maker's re-entry time, meaning when it's safe to come back. That way you can plan a place to stay for the kids and pets and book other trades for a different day.
Who is allowed to install spray foam insulation in Arizona?
Arizona law lets someone without a contractor's license take only casual or minor jobs under $1,000 in total. Anything larger needs a licensed contractor. That exception also doesn't cover any work that needs a local building permit. Ask whoever you hire for their contractor's license number before anyone climbs into your attic.
Does open-cell spray foam need a fire barrier covering in the attic?
Sometimes. A thermal or ignition barrier, such as a coating or drywall, goes over spray foam when the foam product or the building code calls for one, and not every foam does. We follow the foam maker's instructions and the code for your attic, and if a covering is needed, it goes on your estimate.
How thick should open-cell foam be in an attic?
It needs to be thick enough to stop air as well as slow heat, and open-cell needs a thicker layer than closed-cell foam, the dense kind, to work as the air barrier. An older federal guide puts typical open-cell foam at about R-3.6 per inch. R-value is how well insulation slows heat, so more inches means more insulation. I'll measure how many inches are up there now and write the depth we plan into the estimate.
What is the best way to handle moisture in an attic sprayed with open-cell foam?
Plan it before the attic is closed up. Open-cell foam lets vapor pass, so it can't act as the vapor control layer, and the design needs another way to handle moisture where one is called for. A sealed attic also needs a way for moisture to get out. That's a good question to put to any contractor when you compare foam types.
Open-cell foam permits and hiring in Lake Havasu City
Lake Havasu City's permit list names work like replacing roof sheathing and drywall, not spray foam. The list alone doesn't settle whether your foam job needs a permit, but if we have to replace sheathing or drywall along the way, that part does. We check each job with the city's Building Division. When a permit is needed, we file it with our contractor's license and city business license numbers on the application, since the city won't issue a permit without them. The city also keeps its own changes to the national residential code, so a national how-to guide won't always match the rules here.
On jobs around Lake Havasu City, we often find ducts and the AC unit up in the attic, along with hatches and can lights nobody ever sealed. That's why sealing comes first on our jobs here.
